ABOUT
ROSERose was built in
1996 for use as the motor of a hotel boat pair. At 71ft by 7ft wide Rose
is as long and wide as she can be and still travel the majority of the
canal network. Newly renovated for 2007, she has a fresh country style
interior and is perfectly designed to fit four passengers and two crew
in the maximum comfort her dimensions allow.
At the bow is an open well-deck with
removable covers for all weather conditions.
The lounge and dining area have large
windows, which finish just above the water line, designed for maximum
viewing pleasure.
On evenings in the cooler months, a
wood burning stove provides a cosy way of warming the cockles in the
lounge. There is also a small bar, stocked with the usual basics as well
as some of Hanna’s homemade damson gin.
The galley, new for 2007, is a small
but perfectly formed 6.5ft in which Hanna will prepare all meals and
refreshments. Be assured, however that the size of the galley doesn’t
limit the taste of the food or the variety of dishes produced.
There are two single cabins.
All passenger cabins have 6.5ft bunks
and thick, comfortable mattresses. They are fully ensuite, spacious by
boating standards and are supplied with 100% cotton bedding and towels.
The full width cabin sleeps two in a
unique convertible twin or double accommodation arrangement providing
either two bunks of 2’3 width or a full size double.
At the aft is the crew cabin.
The boat has central heating if
required and there is a small but comprehensive library on board
covering subjects ranging from canals to cookery, and a collection of
board games and cards for the quieter evenings.
ABOUT
KARNATAKA
Karntaka is a specially designed and
newly built butty. At 71ft she is as long as she can be and still fit in
the locks. She has a beam width of 6ft11 but thanks to a unique
structure we have maximised the internal width in order to maximise the
comfort of our guests.
At her bow is an open well deck large
enough to seat 4 passengers. The saloon has comfortable lounge seating
and large viewing windows which enable guests to look out onto the water
as we cruise. The lounge is fitted with a bar of basics, including some
of Hanna’s homemade drinks and refreshments, damson gin being a
favourite amongst our guests.
There is a crew cabin and w.c.
Karnataka can carry two guests in
single cabins both fitted with bunks of 2ft3inch width and 6.5ft long.
To the rear is the full width double
cabin which can sleep two guests in a generous size double bed.
All cabins are fully ensuite with
shower, toilet and sink. All our bunks have memory foam mattress toppers
and our bedding is 100% cotton. We provide down and feather duvets but
have hollowfibre duvets should passengers prefer.
At the stern of Karnataka is a second
crew cabin can be accessed from the stern of the boat only.
She is fitted with central heating for
those cooler evenings and following our environmental ambitions,
electricity on Karnataka will be generated by solar panels on the roof.
Thanks to a handy storage area at the stern we are able to recycle
glass, paper, cans and plastics at stops along the route.
When possible we shall moor ‘breasted
up’ with the boats side by side and to ease crossing between the boats
whenever this is possible there is a low level step crossing between the
corridors on each boat.
All meals are taken on Rose, around a
central table which can seat all eight guests.
